・「テイク・ファイヴ」という曲は、おそらく作曲者でアルト・サックスを吹いたポール・デズモンドよりも、デイヴ・ブルーベックの名前で記憶している人の方が多いだろう。「テイク・ファイヴ」の曲名は知らなくとも、あのメロディを知らぬ人はいない。変拍子だってこれほどポピュラーにしてみせる大衆性が、デイヴ・ブルーベック・カルテットの素晴らしいところだ。
「テイク・ファイヴ」の2年前に録音され、ビル・エヴァンスよりもマイルス・デイヴィスよりも先に、ディズニー映画の音楽をジャズ化するというコンセプト・アルバムが本盤。 |
